MEDICAL CONTRAINDICATIONS TO PARTICIPATING IN BREATHWORK

 

Breathwork contributes to certain specific physiological changes in the body which can contribute to extreme physical and emotional release as well. For safety reasons, therefore, we recommend not participating in the breath retention phases of the session if you have any of the following:

 

  1. Epilepsy
  2. Glaucoma or retinal detachment
  3. Osteoporosis
  4. High Blood Pressure that is not controlled with medication.
  5. Cardiovascular problems, including history of angina or heart attacks
  6. Strokes, seizures, TIAs or other brain/neurological condition or disease
  7. Personal or family history of aneurisms
  8. Use of prescription blood thinning medications
  9. Pregnancy
  10. Asthma (if you have asthma you can participate but you must have your inhaler available)
  11. Recent surgery or physical injury
  12. Pregnancy
  13. Bipolar depression
  14. An active addiction (some addictions are fine)
